Thrive

Hesitantly I await my fate
I didn’t choose to take away your hope
I didn’t mean to fill you with fear
I just wanted to hold you close my dear

Until the storm passes and floats into the distance
Becoming a floating dream
The sun shines through the clouds
Your smile beams off the clear blue sky
Your brain stops questioning why and starts to enjoy life

Forgetting about the crimes and realising that you have a lifetime ahead
You do not dread the morning sunshine
Instead, you thrive, knowing that the past is far way and you are safe for the rest of your days
