Someday I Will Fly Away

Someday I will fly away
From your bullets hitting my wings causing my feathers to fall
I have been through it all
I am struggling to grow, to fledge from the nest
I guess I will never migrate and leave this place

The hawks are above
Waiting to see me fall
There constantly diving and pecking at my already weakened body
They don’t even feel sorry

I worry as soon as I try to fly away
The hawks will attack
The hunters will unleash their bullets
I will become wooden and stuck in this hollow rut

I will wait for the flood to come
To clear the skies
So one day I can fly
