The battle fields are filled with poppies
A symbol of those souls who never made it home
They leave behind families and friends who will never see them again
A child will never be able to look into her fathers eyes
They didn’t even get to say goodbye

Some remain living with an invisible illness that is like living in a war zone
The sound of bombs ruptures every blood vessel in the body
The earth feels unsteady
But ready to face the challenges ahead and some words are best unsaid
With time they will find a peace inside
Away from the battle lines
