Until Tomorrow

I wish you would stay with me
Protect me for the world outside

The plastic bottles are scurrying in the wind
Drifting away into the distance
That how it feels on my own

But I know that it is your time to go

To breath the fresh air
To feel the sunshine on your face
To let the rain wash you with grace
As you take you first step on your own
Life is beginning again as it should have long ago

The gate closes behind you
Walking up the hill away for me

You don’t blink

You don’t shed a tear
You go into the unknown
Once again
Your running
Away from the pain of yesterday

The distance between us has grown
You are lost and cannot be found
Surrounded in the past
Your words are a memory.
Disappearing into the wallpaper

My wish is that you would come home
But you don’t
And that’s ok
The distance will remain
The pain will stay the same
Until tomorrow
